This and that and nothing in particular

A few family updates:

Superman ~*~ He's settling in at school and doing well. Right now it's about 80% play and 20% work because his teacher is trying to undo a lot of learned behaviour/coping skills from the year at his previous school. He has little trust in teachers and immediately gets anxious around work because last year was met with a lot of struggles. Mr. S said he's an extremely bright little guy and you can see that it's all up there, but he needs to feel like Mr. S is a safe place, a person he can trust, and that doing work doesn't have to be a battle, in order to achieve his best. He's submitting a technology claim because Superman has fine motor skill issues and it's not that he can't write (he can) but it's physically tiring for him and he gets frustrated because his hands can't keep up with his mind. But he's an incredibly good typer and can type up his notes. So once he gets approval for that, Superman can use a laptop to do all of his work. In this day and age, there's no reason why he can't do that.

It's amazing how much he IS capable of doing though now that he's settling. I'm excited to see what the year has in store for him.

Today he gets a new bedroom set which he is VERY excited about. Should arrive in the next few hours. He and Daddy are taking apart the old bed and we're looking forward to getting his new room in order.

Ladybug ~*~ She's growing like you wouldn't believe! She loves, loves, loves to dance which is probably hands down my favourite toddler stage. I taught her jazz hands. Pretty darn cute. She's all about Dora the Explorer and reading books. Superman is great with her about 90% of the time so they have fun together. He likes to play music on his keyboard and she likes to dance to it. We just started Mom/Tot classes two days a week. Thursdays are swimming and Fridays are a sing and play date. It's helping us to get into a new groove now that Superman is back at school. She misses him when he's gone and her favourite part of the day is when I tell her it's time to go to school to pick him up.

The hubby ~*~ He's been putting in 120 hours a week at work. We don't see much of him and he's suffering from burnout. I worry about him and I hope that it will ease up soon so that he can go back to having a life with us and away from work. Next weekend he's going to a mini road trip with his brother to pick up a trailer for the boat so that will be good. It's a round robin trip but at least he's out of the office and he always has a good time with Kev.

Me ~*~ I've been busy. Still trying to find my feet with Superman being gone all day. It's a weird letting go process. Not letting go of him but letting go of the constant stress that you've been living under for years. I had no idea how much it was affecting me until I realized I didn't have to hold it together anymore. The first two weeks were tough. Really depressed, weepy, tired. Now I feel like I'm starting to find a new groove. Enjoying the one on one time with Ladybug. In two weeks I'm going away for the weekend with some girlfriends which will be a guaranteed good time. I'm looking forward to it.
